WHAT WE OWE TO AFRICAN AMERICANS THAT WE HAVE SOME OF OUR DEMOCRACY STILL

As i was watching a TV special entitled "the 1619 project" [1619 is the first year that slaves were brought to America] it became clearer to me what is meant by the message that African Americans who were enslaved were protecting our democratic form of government when they challenged every attempt to undermine our democracy by denying rights that are guaranteed by the declaration of independence. Their unceasing efforts have helped our country maintain more of the principles of our democracy that we say that we value for everyone.

Based on the continuing efforts of African Americans we are able to better hold on to basic principles of equality for all, so that we are actually heading toward a better country versus the lie that has been promoted that it is right to "make America great again" by promoting exploitation of others by promoting racism and anti-women and anti-gay beliefs. These anti-democracy efforts have recently centered around interfering with voting rights to keep African Americans from voting while also claiming voter fraud after they [the anti democracy groups] lose elections. This voter fraud has never been confirmed and represents another lie that promotes anti-democracy values against free elections and equality for all. So it seems that the continuing efforts of African Americans to safeguard voting rights is supporting our efforts to become a better democracy and not give in to anti-democracy efforts that if not stopped will inevitably lead to our country being led by a dictator.

What do you think?
